Bio
Independent recording artist Jan Tilley is a lead guitarist/bassist/vocalist/songwriter. About a million years ago, Jan co-founded one of the very first all girl punk bands THE RUDE GIRLS, scaring small children and other urban creatures all over New York City. Opening for artists such as JOHNNY THUNDERS, from the infamous NEW YORK DOLLS, the RUDE GIRLS broke stereotypes faster than you could utter the word RiotGrrrl. In 1994 Jan started touring the U.S. with rock n roll legend RONNIE SPECTOR (of THE RONETTES), as her lead guitarist/vocal arranger. They performed with MICK FLEETWOOD, toured the U.K. opening for MARTHA REEVES & THE VANDELLAS, and opened for JAMES BROWN in Pittsburgh's 60,000 seat Three Rivers Stadium. In 1999 Jan became the lead guitarist for the New York and Boston productions of the Off-Broadway rock musical HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH. In the summer of 2000, Jan was asked to compose the score for Lesbian playwright SUSANA COOK's GROSS NATIONAL PRODUCT. After completing the show's successful run at The Kitchen, Jan joined the cast of the all female rock musical PREY FOR ROCK AND ROLL as lead guitarist, vocalist and the character "Faith". PREY ran at CBGBs throughout the summer of 2000.

Currently Jan can be seen playing lead guitar for KEVIN CAHOON & GHETTO COWBOY, ZIGGY STARLET & THE SPIDERS FROM VENUS (the all female Bowie tribute band), and WICKED PROM (with Steve Mach).

Jan is a rock dinosaur living in New York City under the rule of hir 4 cats (clockwise from top left): Pook, Greta, Ziggy, and Morticia. Jan is a vegan, animal rights activist, fierce feminist, and supporter of The A.L.F.. Jan spends most of hir time with the felines, with hir friends, writing music, working on hir Digital Audio Workstation, and reading lots of books.
